He's Baaack...

Most of you know Paku, Meadow's imaginary friend. He showed up in Spruce Woods on a July Long Weekend when Meadow was about 2 and has become a transient member of our family. I swear even Rex sees him. At the very mention of his name, he starts repeating " Paku, Paku," Then he ends off by saying, "Paku partie."

Anyway, some of Paku's visits are quite long and some short lived. However, he had been gone for quite sometime now. Last time we "saw" him was probably mid hockey season when Meadow opened the back door to the deck and yelled out to the black night, "Oilers are BOOOO!" Then she turns to me and says, "Paku's out there mom" (Creepy)

Today I just finished telling Ang that I needed to write a few Paku stories in the blog because I think he's what brings out the quirkiest in Meadow. I also added that he hadn't been around in a while. I got to my mother-in-law's house to pick up Rex and as we were leaving, Meadow says, "Hurry up Mom, Paku's waiting in the car." So I replied, " Oh Paku's back eh? Where has he been lately?" Meadow answers, "Oh well he was in Africa in a museum. He got a sun burn on his chest from being in the museum too long." So I asked, "Well how come he was gone for so long?" And she replied, "He was waiting for a long time for me to come and get him in Africa so I did."

Well then, nice to see you again Paku....weirdo!

Moving Out

Meadow and I were having, what I thought was, a deep discussion on how much I would miss her if she would live somewhere else. She told me she would like to live with Gillian because she has a great house. So then I cuddle right up close to her face and say, " Meadow, I would miss you too much if you moved away." She replies, (still staring at the TV) "Mommy your breath is very stinky."

Life is a Highway

I told Meadow that the person who originally sang Life is a Highway is my cousin (through marriage). Told her his name is Tom Cochrane. A few minutes later, she asks, "What's your cousin's name again? Thomas Croutons?

Shut up

One day after school, Rex was still napping, Meadow was watching Snow White and John was having a 5 minuter. I walked into the bedroom and decided to do the same. My eyes were closed but my ears were still very much "opened". In the movie, Grumpy yells out "AH... SHUT UP" (Gotta love the old school Disney Cartoons) Then Meadow whispers "shut up" just to see if it would sound any different coming out of her mouth... in a whisper. Doesn't have the same effect if nobody "hears" you.

Egg Patching

The other day Meadow, Rex and I went to the Funk's Farm. (beside Grace's Place). Meadow saw a chicken laying down in the corner of the coop and whispers to me, "Mom, why is that chicken laying down?" I answer, "I don't know I guess she's just having a rest." "No, Meadow answers, I think she's probably patching some eggs."
